Restoring
Borgo Botol

A 12th-century house shaped by an earlier restoration in the 1600s and brought carefully into a new life in 2025.

A long life

Eight centuries
held in one house.

Borgo Botol was originally built in the 12th century.

The building changed as generations used it. A first restoration took place in the 1600s; the latest work, completed in 2025, preserved its stone, timber, arches and irregular details while making the house comfortable for modern stays.

The history of the house

Built, adapted
and restored.

The original house

The earliest structure of Borgo Botol dates to the 12th century. Its masonry, proportions and surviving fabric established the character that later work sought to retain.

The first restoration

The house underwent its first known restoration in the 17th century, adapting the medieval building for a different period of family and agricultural life.

The latest restoration

The new restoration was completed in 2025. Historic materials and traces were retained wherever possible while modern climate, energy, water and comfort systems were integrated discreetly.
